Accessibility Bootcamp - 2 Full Days (most popular!)

This two-day training is our most popular course, and offers an overview of everything your team needs to know in order to begin their journey down the path of Web accessibility. This Bootcamp is intended to be the foundation upon which all accessibility knowledge can later be built. While the second day of the Bootcamp is most suitable for web developers and quality assurance professionals, the first day is intended for every member of a cross-functional team. In this Bootcamp, we cover the following topics:

Accessibility Fundamentals - 0.5 Day or Less

This training provides an overview of basic accessibility concepts, such as why digital inclusion matters and how people with disabilities use the Web. Through this training, participants will develop a better understanding about how disabilities affect a person's experience online, as well as a high-level introduction to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG). The training will also introduce ways through which the many responsibilities pertinent to Web accessibility can be distributed by roles, so each member of your team understands the role they should play when it comes to successfully integrating accessibility in the project development lifecycle.

Mobile Web Accessibility - 0.5 Day to a Full Day

Because mobile is an integral part of the overall Web experience, this training is vital to your development team’s overall success. This training is intended to be delivered to participants who have already successfully completed Deque’s 2-day Bootcamp and provides an overview of considerations that are specific to mobile Web design and development. Upon completion, your team will be able to create accessible experiences on mobile devices which will modernize your organization’s approach to accessibility.

Deque’s modular training approach allows for both half-day or full-day extended training in this topic area, with a mix of lectures and hands-on workshop exercises designed to empower your cross-functional team to make informed and accessible decisions beyond the desktop. Topics can include:

  • Accessibility considerations for mobile design and development
  • Mobile Web accessibility guidelines and techniques
  • Accessible responsive Web design principles
  • Mobile Web testing methodology, following the Deque Way

Native Mobile Accessibility - 0.5 Day to 2 Full Days

There is a clear distinction between the Web, as it is now experienced on mobile devices, and native mobile experiences, such as the ones users get when navigating through applications downloaded from the AppStore (iOS) or the GooglePlay platform (Android), and accessibility is no exception.

This training is intended for participants who have already successfully completed Deque’s 2-day Bootcamp and will provide an overview of considerations specific to the native mobile environment, both for iOS and Android, so your team can successfully create accessible experiences on mobile applications beyond the Web.

Deque’s modular training approach allows for both half-day or up to 2 full days of extended training in this topic area, with a mix of lectures and hands-on workshop exercises designed to empower your cross-functional team to make informed and accessible decisions. Topics can include:

Because there’s more to accessibility than just HTML pages, our modular approach to document accessibility allows your team to become familiar with the fundamentals of accessibility in the context of various other formats. Intended for content authors, and anyone who has a role to play in designing or creating documents to are meant to be downloaded on the Web, this course covers all the basics you need to ensure organizational goals for accessibility are met.

Deque’s modular training approach allows for both half-day or up to 2 full days of extended training in this topic area, with a mix of lectures and hands-on workshop exercises designed to empower participants to design, remediate, and test for accessibility on downloadable documents. Topics can include:

axe Auditor - 0.5 Day to a Full Day

This stand alone course is intended for Accessibility Testing Specialists looking to optimize their accessibility testing, tracking, and reporting with step-by-step guidance and report building. Based on the Deque Way of accessibility testing, this course teaches testing specialists to run both manual and automated tests in the same interface, without needing to be accessibility experts themselves. Throughout the training, participants learn how to create precise, consistent accessibility issue reports for developers to resolve, then rerun tests on new builds and across multiple browsers to verify requirements have been met. Deque’s modular training approach allows for both half-day or full-day extended training in this topic area. Topics can include:

  • Setting up axe Auditor to test for accessibility
  • Setting up test cases (projects) and test runs (iterations)
  • Using axe Auditor in the context of a real-life project
  • Logging accessibility issues for maximum efficiency
