- JAWS in IE 11:
- Partial support for rowgroup: In version 1 of the table, JAWS reads the rowgroup header when reading the top row in each rowgroup, but does not read the header for the second row, even when coming up to the second row from the row below it, so you have to go up to the top of each rowgroup to hear the rowgroup header.
- Full support for colgroup: In version version 2 JAWS reads the columngroup header with each cell within that group when traversing across the table from left to right
- VoiceOver on Mac with Safari:
- Almost full support for rowgroup. VoiceOver reads both levels of headings correctly with the rowgroup designation, but it incorrectly reads the cells in the second column as header cells for the column. For example. If you navigate into the "Matt" cell, it says "Mary Betsy Matt," which is incorrect. "Mary" and "Betsy" are header cells for their respective rows, not for the column.
- Full support for colgroup
- NVDA in Firefox:
- No support for rowgroup
- Quirky/broken support for colgroup: NVDA does not read the "Females" colgroup with the appropriate cells, but for some reason it does associate the "Males" colgroup correctly. I can't see any difference in the code between the two colgroups, so I'm not sure what is causing the difference.
- Window Eyes 9 with IE 11:
- Partial support for rowgroup: In version 1 of the table, Window Eyes reads the rowgroup header when reading the top row in each rowgroup, but does not read the header for the second row, even when coming up to the second row from the row below it, so you have to go up to the top of each rowgroup to hear the rowgroup header.
- Full support for colgroup.
