Overview

The high-level process steps on this page can serve as a guide to getting up and running quickly with the WorldSpace Attest extension. They summarize that major tasks involved with using the product, and within each step heading are crossreferences to more detailed subtopics to accomplish each. Depending on your needs, there is no required sequential order, however, the following depicts a typical session in which all functionality is used to give you an idea of the overall procedures.

Step 1: Download, install, and configure the Attest extension

For more information, see Downloading, Installing and Configuring the Attest Extension.

Step 2: Open the page you want to test in your browser

For more information, see Getting Started.

Step 3: Open Developer Tools, select WorldSpace Tab

For more information, see Opening the WorldSpace Attest Extension.

Step 4: Optionally, Sign in, select a project (Settings pane)

For more information, see Settings.

  1. Optionally, sign in to WorldSpace Comply (enter Server URL, Username & Password to establish upload/download connection), and select a project (favorite by Organization). For more information, see Signing In to WorldSpace Comply, and Selecting A WorldSpace Comply Project.

Step 5: Optionally, Select a Rule Set (Rules pane)

  1. Select the desired Rule Set option (preset rules configuration setting). For more information, see Tag Settings.

Step 6: Analyze the page for accessibility violations (Analyze pane)

For more information, see Analyze.

  1. Analyze the page (click the Analyze button to run the automated rules engine). For more information, see Analyzing a Page for Accessibility Rule Violations.
    or
    Download issues from WorldSpace Comply (import into Analyze pane). For more information, see Downloading Page Issues from WorldSpace Comply.
  2. Review results, get detailed rule & remediation advice (which rules were violated, how many violations of each there were, which elements each violation pertained to). For more information, see Getting More Rule and Remediation Information.
  3. Highlight violations (see where each is on the page). For more information, see Highlighting a Violation.
  4. Inspect violations (view the full HTML and CSS in context). For more information, see Inspecting a Violation.

Step 7: Optionally, Export and/or Upload analysis results (Analyze)

For more information, see Analyze.

  1. Export violation results (.csv for later remediation reference). For more information, see Exporting Analysis Results.
  2. Upload results to WorldSpace Comply (as issues within a project). For more information, see Uploading Analysis Results.

Step 8: Optionally, Simulate what a screen reader would read on the page (SimulAT pane)

For more information, see SimulAT.

  1. Select a Display option (content and/or structure elements to be targeted). For more information, see Analyzing a Page for Screen Reader Compatibility.
  2. "SimulATe" the page (click the SimulAT button to generate the output). For more information, see Analyzing a Page for Screen Reader Compatibility.
  3. View the simulation results (screen reader text transcript). For more information, see Analyzing a Page for Screen Reader Compatibility.
  4. Highlight elements (click any element to view where it is on the page). For more information, see Highlighting an Element on a Page from SimulAT Results.
  5. Inspect elements (select any element, then click Inspect to view its code in context). For more information, see Inspecting the Code of an Element from SimulAT Results.

Step 9: Optionally, Record and play scripts of sequential steps taken on the page (Scripts pane)

For more information, see Scripts.

  1. Record a script (click Record, interact with the page, click Stop). For more information, see Recording a Script.
    or
    Download a script (when logged in to WorldSpace Comply). For more information, see Downloading a Script.
  2. Play the script (watch the actions you took, pause/resume as desired). For more information, see Playing a Script.
  3. Review event data (event, URL, target, timing, details in table). For more information, see Scripting Tab.
  4. Edit the timing of an event (slow down or speed up time to complete). For more information, see Editing the Timing of a Script Event.
  5. Delete an event, if desired (remove row step from script table). For more information, see Deleting a Script Event.
  6. Upload the script (select a project in WorldSpace Comply to upload to for sharing & re-use). For more information, see Uploading a Script.
